About Abbie
Howdy! I'm passionate about all things reading and writing. This passion has led me to many opportunities to gain valuable experience in the education industry. My degree in Philosophy was extremely writing-intensive and increased my skills in writing, analysis, and reading comprehension. Currently, I am a high school English teacher who has mastered how to differentiate my instruction to meet varied student needs. I also have experience proofreading and providing detailed feedback on students' essays through the Graide Network. From to literature to reading comprehension to college essay writing, reach out to me for help with English!
I have always loved explaining new concepts to people and seeing the "light bulb" moment when the information clicks. This love, combined with watching my father teach for decades, motivated me to become a teacher.
I have a B.A. in Philosophy and currently work as a high school English teacher. I have also worked for the Graide Network as a teaching assistant.

When working with a new student, I begin with a few short questions to get to know them, their strengths, and their weaknesses. Then, I can hone in on what they are struggling with most and reenforce their prior knowledge.
I am most experienced working with high school students, since this is the group that I work with daily. My students are very diverse and I am passionate about meeting their individual learning needs.
Look for a teacher that is not only knowledgable, but also engages you with their lessons. Remaining engaged throughout the lesson will drastically strengthen your understanding.
