About Benjamin

I am an English-certified Middle School teacher with experience in Math and Social studies as well. In addition to teaching, I have published several short stories and worked in in the Quality Assurance department at Nintendo. I am accustomed to challenging work in a wide range of demanding situations, and I plan to serve my employer with that same dedication.

I have always had a passion for working with students. I have an outgoing and relaxed demeanor that fits well with the social connections that teaching naturally creates. I have always had a love of science fiction and fantasy novels, and enjoy sharing and spreading the larger gift of literacy with my students.

I studied and earned my Bachelor's in English with a special focus on creative writing, and then continued to complete my Master's in Teaching degree, both from the University of Washington. I taught English in Spain's public school system for a year, then returned to the United States and spent two years as a public middle school language arts teacher in Renton, WA.

About the lesson

I like engage my students on their level, learning about their interests and aspirations both as a person and a student. This in turn helps paint a broader picture of the students needs as related to their curriculum at hand.

I have taught internationally and locally in the United States. I have worked with students of all walks of life, whether it was high reaching honor students studying for their SATs, or underpriviliged students looking to focus on their education despite the difficulties in their lives.

Don't be worried about whether I am to harsh or scary. I am totally understanding and easy to get along with. I will push you, however. There is something special and great inside of each of us, and sometimes finding an interest in education starts with seeing that greatness and believing in it.

My 7 month old son said his first word, and it was "Tata", (Romanian for 'dad'). It came out as, "Aaaata!" but it was clear he was repeating after me. It made me cry happy tears :,)
