I aways start by asking the student in English about the reasons behnd taking the course and what are his objectives, therefore I break the ice with him/her and then I can get a sense of what level the student is at. Then I start getting into reading and pronunciation correction. The common mistakes and the regular errors that the student makes are corrected and written in a word document to review it afterwords.
