About Margaret

Hi! I'm a certified English Language Arts teacher in Missouri. I have a Bachelors in English and a Masters in English Education.

My certification is in high school English Language Arts, or simply, high school English classes. I have also taught publication courses, basic photography, and study skills.

I love helping people and sharing my love of reading and writing, teaching seemed to fit naturally.

I went to Truman State University and focused in English and Education. After undergrad, I immediately transitioned to their graduate program that specializes in secondary English Language Arts education.

I've worked with students preschool to adult learners for over five years. The last three years, I've been teaching hybrid, virtual, and seated in a 1,2000 student high school.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I work to get to know them as an individual before I decide how to best proceed with tutoring sessions.

Knowing your interests can help me create more engaging sessions and connect better to what you already know, experience, and understand.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Make sure to ask potential tutors about their hours.

If you reach out during a tutor's working hours, about how long should I wait for a response?

Ask yourself, are you ready to try and look at things from a different point of view? Sometimes, a change in perspective can make a world of difference.

Mrs. Mayberry is very patient, understanding, and she works to make sure I know what I’m doing instead of just completing assignments and problems.
I can’t recommend her enough!

Working with Maggie was an overall great experience as she emphasized long-term conorehension rather than just memorization. She also helped me develop strategies to fully grasp the material I was struggling with. Highly recommend!

Mrs. Mayberry was so helpful with my child's grasp of grammar concepts and how to apply them properly, which has been a struggle for us for years. I cannot recommend her enough; we will absolutely continue to use her services throughout the school year!

Mrs. Mayberry is one of the smartest people who has ever worked with me. She is patient and kind, and was able to help me find solutions to every problem I ran into, or at least lead me to finding a solution of my own!

Ms. Mayberry helped me so much when writing a 40 page research paper on modesty/dress in rural cultures. I would never have been able to write it without help and her critiques.
