About Carrie

I have been teaching kindergarten for 20 years and have experience and knowledge in teaching young learners to read and write. I enjoy working with young children and supporting them on their journey to become readers and writers. If you are looking for help with foundational skills I would be happy to work with your student.

I enjoy working with young learners. The excitement when a child starts to make connections and becomes a reader is very rewarding.

I have a masters in education from the University of San Francisco and 20 years of teaching experience in a public school.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I will generally interview the parents to see where their child is having challenges and what they would like me to focus on. I will then go through a basic skills test with the student and assess their reading level so that I know where to begin instruciton.

Details

I usually charge $50 an hour but young learners often cannot handle an entire hour of tutoring. Usually $25 for a half an hour of instruction is plenty. I would suggest most children struggling with reading have at least two days of tutoring per week.
