About Heather
So many people think writing is boring, so their writing IS boring! But it doesn't have to be. Whether you're writing a college admissions essay, a cover letter, or a research paper, I'll help you make your writing as effective and non-boring as possible - for your audience and for you.
Teaching has been my dream job for as long as I can remember! In middle school, I got my start by teaching piano lessons. Since then, all of my jobs have been related to teaching in some way.
I have a bachelors degree in elementary education, and taught for eight years. I also tutored at my college writing center for 3 years.

We'll start with looking over the assignment and what you've already written and identifying goals for the session. Next, we'll outline your essay / letter / composition. We'll choose one section that you particularly want help with and work through it together. My goal is to give you the tools and confidence that you need to tackle the rest of your assignment on your own, but I am happy to work with you until the end if needed.
I was a camp counselor for highschoolers, a writing tutor for college students, and a classroom teacher for first, second, and fifth graders.
Find a tutor who is efficient. No one wants to spend longer than they need to on homework.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before you meet with the tutor, determine what your goals are for the session. What are the things you need help with that you are not currently confident that you're able to do on your own?

Heather is fantastic! She has tutored me with various types of papers (research, technical, personal reflection, resume) in a number of university courses. She is always courteous, thoughtful, and professional! I can count on Heather to provide solid suggestions and point me to great resources. She is creative, wise, concise, and thorough. She helps wherever I am in the writing process, from pre-writing to polishing. I highly recommend her and will call on her skills in my next college courses. Top notch!
