About Jenifer
-I believe that my ability to understand my student's individual needs distinguishes me from other tutors.
-My services are all-encompassing as I am qualified to teach a wide variety of topics, which allows me to target any issue that my students may be experiencing.
-Additionally, my experience with students in Special Education and the ESL program qualifies me to work with children who may have behavioral challenges or who do not possess English as a first language.

I enjoy witnessing my student's progression throughout their gradual journey towards English success. Whether I am helping a student succeed in English class or earn a high score on ACT/ SAT, I enjoy the process every step of the way.
Teaching English has always been a passion of mine. English was not my first language as a child; as a result, I spent much of my time perfecting my English, eventually surpassing the proficiency level of most native English speakers.
As an English major, I have completed volunteer experience with students in the Special Education department, along with students in the English as a Second Language Program at local elementary and high schools.

My first step would be to listen to my students. I want to know any issues that may be holding a student back from achieving his or her English proficiency. I would then administer my own formative assessment pertaining to the topics that the student struggles with (grammar, reading comprehension, ACT prep, etc). This assessment would allow me to form a plan of action in order to target my student's individual needs.
I have worked with students of all age groups, ranging from elementary to high school students.
In addition, I have extensive experience with students with intellectual disabilities.
Lastly, I am accustomed to teaching beginner English learners.
My biggest piece of advice is to look for a tutor who is passionate about the subject they teach. Having a love for English, in particular, will ensure a positive experience between both teacher and student.
Recently, a student that I had been tutoring successfully passed a reading comprehension exam due to my help. As my student has a learning disability, the journey to English success was not easy; however, it was a delightful experience. This marked the end of my journey with this student. While I am saddened to let this student go, I am beyond proud of his accomplishments with reading.

Details
My pricing is subjective to the service a family is looking for. I generally charge a higher hourly rate for higher-level content such as SAT/ ACT preparation and preparation for Advanced Placement exams.
In addition, I am willing to accommodate a family depending on the financial situation, as I believe everyone deserves English support.
