About Jameeka

I am a elementary school teacher, currently teaching 1st grade. This my second year as a full time teacher, last year I was a reading and social studies teacher for 3rd grade. I have been working in education for 4 years and in childcare a total of 8 years.

I have always loved working with children. And though now I work in classrooms with over 23 students, one of my favorite components of teaching is teaching one-on-one. The classroom is very important in teaching students social skills and how to work well with others, and grow in a community among peers. However, to really reinforce the educational component of school, one-on-one instruction is necessary. It is something that can not always be given the time that is needed within a classroom, and many students are able to still be strong in their school subjects without it, but very many are not and they just need that extra push and reinforcement in one-on-one instruction that is centered and dedicated just to them. I am aiming to be that for students for a few hours outside of school.
