About Diana
I learned how to create a simple website because I wanted my current ESL students, mostly from S.Korea, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan to continue our work in TOEFL/SAT prep over the summer when they left the US school where I taught their classes. I enjoyed this experience so much, I became the ESL language arts and US ESL history curriculum writer and teacher! That was a long time ago, but I still enjoy this population so much, and my unique approach-everyday life and trending US topics make for great opportunities to improve fluency through discussions and debates. They are comfortable and are more likely to speak freely without interruption and use all the years of grammar and drills they have practiced. Students often do not realize how much they are improving because the class is FUN. Not always what they are used to. I also assign them a reading/visual/audio packet to get familiar with before class. Researching further is encouraged because we'll be talking about their opinions and the reasons why.
I have been teaching, both classroom and online, since 1999. I was an academic case manager at a prestigious school catering to students with language-based learning disabilities. From there I worked for top tutoring companies and did educational consulting and developing curricula. Finding the best tools, using best teaching practices and keys I've learned skyrocket success like incorporating critical thinking, brain training, and setting a comfortable learning space where students thrive.
