About Andrei

I grew up in Marin County and started taking private flute lessons when I was 9. I joined the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra and became principal flute and soloist with both. I was chosen to perform as a soloist with the Marin Symphony and then pursued a B.M in Flute Performance from SF State. I am happy to be back in Marin teaching the flute since 2003. I love working with kids age 7-high school and also am great working with adults and seniors. I am a flute instructor at Redwood High School, Manager and Associate Conductor of the Marin Symphony Youth Programs, and freelance orchestral flutist. I formed a senior-age amateur flute choir called the Andantes. I have many award winning flute students who are current recipients of the Marin Music Chest award, play in the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, first chair flute of their school bands, and current students have won concerto competitions and performed several concertos with orchestra. Many of my students have gone from grade-high school lessons to either pursue a music major in college or continue playing for fun in college. I have many adult and retired senior students and enjoy working and playing with them also.

Working with many different people and personalities and discovering new ways to inspire, challenge, and instill a love of playing the flute and playing music.

I have a great deal of experience both teaching and performing. A parent heard me performing at a concert and asked if I would teach her daughter. I started there and soon after grew my student base to about 40 weekly private students. That was over 10 years ago and I still enjoy teaching and performing.

About the lesson

I figure out from the student what their musical background is and start from there, if no musical background we start from the beginning.

Age 7 up thru High School+Adult+Seniors.

The more feedback I recieve from you, the better I can help find music you like, address your technical questions or challenges, and move toward our repertoire goals.

In Fall of 2015 I performed the Chaminade Concertino with the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra.
