About Javier

I have been teaching flute lessons for over 20 years. I have obtained music performance degrees from universities in Venezuela, Colorado, and Nebraska. I also have a degree on education. My experience as a flutist includes playing in symphonic orchestras and diverse chamber music groups in Venezuela and The United States. I have recorded in many music productions of my own and as a guest performer.

I started teaching in Venezuela with the Network of Youth and Children Symphonic Orchestras of Venezuela. That program is an intense music program that focuses on orchestral playing with music schools all around the country. I was also a flute and woodwind section coach for diverse orchestras there, including the "Youth Symphony Orchestra of Caracas" and The "National Children Symphony Orchestra".

As you read in my profile, I have been playing the flute for over 20 years, and a vast experience as a performer, not only in the Classical field but the folk and popular as well.

About the lesson

If you are not new to flute playing, we meet and your level is assessed. From there, we establish a plan to improve the skills that you need. I usually work on different aspects of your flute playing, and we focused on them by importance. Posture, breathing, sound, finger technique, intonations, musicality, etc.

I have worked with a wide range of flute students. This goes from beginners at an early age to graduate students.

You need to meet with a teacher that can identify the areas where you need to improve on. You also need to like the way that the teacher explains things to you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students might know what they want. However, the teacher is going to detect your areas of improvement and generate a plan in the short, middle, and long run to get you where you want to be.

You can schedule 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. However, if you are an intermediate or advanced student, I would suggest you schedule 45 or 60 minute lessons.
