About Jasmine

I'm a 20 year old undergraduate student at Rutgers University and have been playing flute since I was 10. I started as a kid with a love for music and the want to learn and over the years I made it to my high school's top ensemble and performed at various venues and festivals around California where I grew up. I spent four years tutoring beginners at my local middle school and helped new musicians learn the basics of reading music, learning notes, scales, and other beginners techniques to start their pathway as talented artists.

I love helping kids explore the concept of music and always provide a fun and rewarding experience. Although this year has been a challenge for many, I find that playing flute has given me an escape and I would love for that to do the same for others.

After my third year of playing (once I started high school), my middle school band director requested that I come in and help with individual students in her beginner ensemble that were falling behind. I enjoyed it so much that I continued to work with new students in this group all throughout high school!

I have taken 7 years of formal concert band courses ranging from a beginners level to an advanced wind ensemble. I have worked with many students in the same beginners group that I was first introduced to music in. I also spent all fours years of high school in marching band, spending my last two years as section leader for flutes. I have always enjoyed being a mentor and guide to others who are eager to jump into the world of music and each day I hope to help someone find the some love for music as I have

2) Breathing, Posture, and Finding a sound

3) Understanding how to read music (Basics)

4) Learning your first notes

5) Learning your first song

I have worked with middle school and high school students.

Don't allows turn down someone with less experience. I've had private tutors that have had decades of experience and have done amazing things in their careers but I unfortunately found them boring and too serious and dreaded going. Learning a new instrument should be fun and exiting. Find someone that's very engaging and makes you want to continue learning.

I have always volunteered my time to help others and charging students for lessons is new to me. I am open to negotiating prices based on how many hours a week you wish to take lessons.
