About Terrie
My enthusiasm lies in the realm of education, particularly in collaborating with young learners. Across an 11-year teaching journey, I have predominantly engaged with PreK and kindergarten levels, concurrently overseeing a coding club for 24 months. Preceding my teaching career, I devoted over two decades to the domain of computers. During this period, I cultivated expertise in hardware, software support, and user education. To begin the reading venture, understanding the alphabet is just the initial step. Developing skilled readers involves acquiring a range of abilities. These encompass recognizing the correspondence between letters and sounds, comprehending grammar and dialogue rules, along with various other competencies.
As students progress in their learning journey, they find pleasure in engaging with the content.
Within my classes, I implement a curriculum based on the Science of Reading, aimed at assisting students in mastering reading skills.
Reading is a learned skill that can be nurtured through structured teaching methods, as elucidated by scientific research. The Science of Reading encompasses the extensive body of research that dissects the process of how children acquire reading skills and the effective teaching methods to guide them on this path.
Achieving reading fluency necessitates a combination of skills that are explicitly and systematically taught.
