About Tatiana

If you are looking for a fun, flexible, easy to get along with tutor for either German or Russian, ESL or Italian, I am perfect for you. I am a Linguistic Professor (Germanic and Slavonic Languages) from Russia who currently lives in the US and teaches at UTC.

I have been teaching more than 25 years in classes, privat and online.

I provide a variety of activities for my lessons so you will never get bored. For example, I will use games, interactive conversational lessons, fun warm up tasks, case studies, and even riddles. We will use authentic materials as well. You will learn conversational skills, formal writing skills, and test taking strategies all in a fun manner.

I have a background as an experienced lecturer, teacher, and tutor in the field of linguistics (general linguistics, history of linguistics, psycolinguistics, social linguistics, gender studies). Since defending my dissertation, I have continued to do research in gender studies in the field of virtual communication and digital text, especially non-verbal communication, social networks and gender-specific communication. However, I have found that my true passion is helping students in one-on-one lessons.

Quickly, you will learn basic speaking skills, read and understand texts from every-day life, listen and understand radio, TV reports, songs, movies, and regular native speakers, write emails, and cards.

My basic principles are:

- individual attitude to everybody

- your needs are always considered and respected

- always fun, never boring

- interactive lessons

- introducing all aspects of the language: modern conversational, culture, history, mentality, slang and dialects, media and movies

- variety of methods

- real Internet resources

- the majority of your time will be spent practicing your new language

- lots of positive feedback to eliminate language barrier

- variety of activities: dialogues, games, riddles, listening to authentic reports, reading funny stories, telling jokes, learning about people and culture, virtual trips to countries whose language you are learning

- you can feel results after each lesson.

I am really passionate about two things: languages and traveling which are in my opinion are hard to separate from each other. Being an experienced methodologist I constantly create content in different languages for my students where I can always can add my intercultural experience and my perspective.

Learning languages is always fun and I organize the process the way my students could enjoy it.
