About Val

Just a little about myself. I had a late start in golf, playing for the first time my senior year of high school at St. Joseph in Hammonton, NJ. By the time I got to Camden County Community College, I dropped all my other sports to focus on golf. I helped my team qualify for the D3 National Championship after winning our regional tournament. All this time, I was working at Woodcrest Country Club in Cherry Hill, NJ, as a cart attendant. As time went on, I realized my dream was to not only play the game I love, but to help others share in the experience as well. In October of 2018, I passed my Playing Ability Test by shooting back to back rounds of 79 and 77 to be accepted into the Professional Golf Management Program. I was an Assistant Teaching Professional for Bill Schmedes III who is a top 40 under 40 teacher for Golf Digest. I currently work for the leader in golf instruction at GOLFTEC in Moorestown, NJ.

I enjoy watching people grow to love the game. Golf is a huge part of people's lives and when I can help make it enjoyable, it makes everything worth it. At GOLFTEC we use fact based technology that allows for our students to improve at a faster pace. After working at green grass facilities for 5 years, there is no comparison to how efficient our instruction is at GOLFTEC. Being apart of the GOLFTEC family is just like belonging to a club.

I became infatuated with the swing while teaching myself to play. It was all I ever thought about so I figured why not make a living at it!

I worked for a two Golf Digest Top 40 under 40 and Best in State teachers. I am in the PGM program to become part of the PGA community.

About the lesson

Typically there is one or two cancers in the golf swing that has a trickle down effect throughout. My plan is to help the golfer understand why the ball does what it does, how the body needs to work and to then develop a plan from there.

I’ve worked with beginners, to 30 handicaps, to scratch golfers!

The most important part of golf instruction is to have the student understand that there aren't too many students who only need one lesson. It is like anything else, a process. At GOLFTEC, we do a great job of explaining the process and helping you play better golf.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you want a quick fix or do you want to become a better golfer with knowledge on how to fix your game when the pressure it on. Bandages don’t last!

I am an amateur golfer that has been playing for about two years now. I have been to multiple swing coaches over that time frame and no one had worked with me like Val does. Every coach has their own unique style, but Val’s attention to detail is what sets him apart. He actually follows up with you throughout the week after the lesson is over to see how your progress is coming along. That to me shows that he cares and is not just collecting a check. I am also a firm believer in what he teaches. He breaks down your individual swing on what’s best for you. There is never a cookie cutter approach to what he is trying to show you. Lastly he helps with the mental side of the game. Multiple times I have been ready to throw my clubs off a bridge after a bad round and he’s always there to keep you going. I would recommend Val to a novice golfer, pro golfer, whatever as he really is off the charts.

At the end of my lesson, I was shooting 3-5 strokes lower than I usually do. Can’t recommend him enough!
