About Andrew

I have been playing music in various combos and solo performances consistently for 12 years, starting in churches around the age of 15 and eventually growing into the independent recording artist I am today. My work can be found under Andy The Dishwasher on any major streaming service. Particularly in my early material, many of the instrumentals were self-produced and recorded live by myself. I also performed with several live ensembles at Berea College during the two years I studied music there.

As of right now, my intention is to begin teaching full time from my home studio. I'm equipped with a fully licensed copy of Studio One Professional for my digital audio workstation as well as keys, a guitar, a bass, and a 1080p webcam.

I love music, period. It doesn't just move people in a figurative way like some other art forms. It actually vibrates them. Personally, it seems to me like we ought to be a bit more careful about how we go about vibrating folks. For that reason, it brings me great joy to help developing people learn about the science AND the art of musical vibration. It is the most potent contribution I know how to make toward the problems our society faces.

About the lesson

I like to start by assessing their influences and motivations to determine where the lessons need to be directed. This is because a million paths can be taken in music and I don't claim to be an expert in all of them. If the student is looking to develop in a way I have not yet developed myself, I will politely bow out. However, if I can see that a student has similar goals to my own but less knowledge and practice achieving them, I will gladly pass on that knowledge and help however I can to guide their practice.
