Even though I’ve played guitar for many years, Cindy has taught me new techniques, fingerings, tunings, arrangements, and vocal harmonies. She has saved me a lot of time by arranging pieces to suit my playing style & voice. She is a joy to work with, so kind and patient. It is a privilege to study guitar with her.

I had made a couple attempts in the past to learn guitar with other teachers that didn't go anywhere. I knew with my first lesson with Cindy that this was somebody that would inspire me and could teach me what I wanted in a way that I found to be fun. Not always someone who is good at something can teach, but Cindy is exceptional at both.

Cindy is a fantastic guitar teacher as well as a very talented singer-songwriter. Whether working on new songs, introducing new skills or teaching music theory Cindy is warm, patient, encouraging, and non-judgmental. Every few months Cindy hosts a guitar circle with her students of all ages and levels to share works-in-progress or favorite songs in a supportive and friendly environment - a good way to become more comfortable playing in front of others. Lessons are a lot of fun and I've noticeably improved! Highly recommended.

Cindy's a great teacher! Whether you're just starting guitar or a more advanced player, her extensive teaching experience gives her the ability to suggest ways of playing something that you at first think, "She must be kidding. I can't play that!" Then, yes, you can play the song. Okay, it takes practice, but it's less tedious having a teacher who inspires you to want to practice. She's attentive to detail and incredibly patient. I always look forward to having a lesson with her.

I have been taking weekly lessons from Cindy for 2 and 1/2 years. I had played guitar for a while, but I was in a rut and had developed habits that weren’t allowing me to move forward. I decided to find a teacher. I saw her website and tried her Zoom (Skype-type meeting). Cindy’s many years as a performer and teacher was what I was most impressed with.

I came to her with my goals, and some ideas, and realized quickly that she was the right match for me.

I am currently reading more tab, and understanding the fretboard with deeper musical intelligence than I had ever expected. I am picking, strumming, and landing chords better. I am also recognizing strategies and patterns in fellow musicians and performers when I attend concerts or play with groups. Lately, I am playing with jazz chords (totally not my wheelhouse), and I’m loving it.

Cindy is always on time, has a lesson plan idea ready, and really knows where to guide you when you make errors or need work in a particular area. She has a knack of pushing you gently or just hanging exactly where you need to in order to “get it”. She’s open to your on-the-fly ideas and will reverse engineer a song you’ve been longing to play - and will send you tab or chords to master it. She is flexible and kind and I feel lucky that we could find days and times that matched my busy schedule.
This past summer I visited her and took a couple in-person lessons! It was amazing to continue our on-line work in person. I’ll keep taking lessons from her for years to come.

I'm taking lessons from Cindy still. She 's kind and fun, just a very cool person. I don't always get a lot of time to practice. With Cindy there's no pressure. She can teach anything on the guitar. If you want to learn to play the guitar, I highly recommend Cindy Kallet.
