About Kent

Music is for everyone, especially you. There are many ways to learn, but some ways are better than others. I want to show you a way that makes sense, and that allows you to create music for yourself, and to understand and feel as you play the compositions of other people. Sign up soon, and learn to live the music!

Teaching has always been second to making music with other people. Playing with other beginners always sounded terrible, and playing alone wasn't the same. As I learned more about music, playing the same songs with the same people became exciting. What was more exciting was seeing the ideas click when we talked about what was different. After all these years, every lesson gives me the same feeling of satisfaction and unity.

About the lesson

The guitar is a wonderfully versatile instrument, so I ask students to make a playlist of songs and sounds that inspire them to practice, and let me understand specific techniques they will need to learn as they progress. Helping them find specific reasons for playing, such as joining a band, writing songs, or showing off, helps them to stay motivated and focused. After that, it's a priority to learn how the fretboard is organized. At the same time, becoming familiar with basic elements of rhythm goes a long way toward feeling like someone who not only plays an instrument, but a someone who makes music.
