About Katie

I am a classically trained musician and have been studying the flute and voice since elementary school. I obtained a music industry studies degree in college that further trained me in composition and arranging. I love working with all ages and really just want to provide a positive experience for those who are willing to put in the work!

I have countless hours of performance experience, a history of taking and teaching private lessons, and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Industry Studies from CSUN that included a performance element as well as a compositional element.

About the lesson

To start with a new student I would want to start by having a quick chat to get to know them as a person and see what their goals are and what they hope to get out of lessons. Secondly, I would (depending on their instrument) take them through some warm ups to get a feel for their knowledge level. Lastly, I would want to hear something they have prepared previously to get a sense of where their current skill level is and end with another quick chat about what I think the best strategy would be moving forward.
