About Josh

I have been giving private lessons since I was in high school. I studied music compostion and low brass at Univeristy of the Pacific. I love teaching students who are just starting their love of music, and students who already love it and just want to learn more.

I studied music composition and low brass at University of the Pacific in Stockton California. I have been teaching private lessons since I was in high school, and I was an after school band teacher for 4th and 5th graders.

About the lesson

It depends on the instrument, but in general I like to see where the student's music knowlage is at first. I like to teach all of my students some music theory (I studied music compostion so I find theory extreamly important) along with the instrument they are learning. If a student comes in with no music knowlage I first teach them how to read music and how to listen to it (from a musicians perspective).

I've work with kids as young as 3 and adults over the age of 40.
