About Paul
As I was taught at age 9, I began to define my own style quickly, without being able to appreciate the gravity of my creative evolution, so I was heartbroken when my first teacher told my mother after an afterschool lesson: I can't teach your boy anymore. Now he's teaching me. I was assigned an advanced teacher, showing me more complex and difficult technique, but I knew my core inspiration was still very much alive and I seemed to feel I was slipping off the very spiritual path of creative nourishment, so at about age 12 I began to teach myself. Sine this realization, I've been able to listen to music once, then teach it to myself from memory. When I'm away from my guitar, I have dreams where I write songs and discover new chords, and as soon as I can play them in waking life, I find they're completely real, as if the music has always existed, I'm just now able to remember the notes. I will never teach anyone past the point of their defining moment of self realization. I will teach people how to teach themselves, with my main goal being the prevention of my personal taste and style from influencing the student. This will be a wonderfully fulfilling and a deeply creative learning experience for us BOTH. If not, I'd recommend my student try someone else.

About the lesson

First I will teach basic operation and maintenance, parts and etiquette, handling and minor repairs, assigning the student a few creatively challenging but individually detailed exercises. Apart from discussion/questions during the actual paid lesson, I encourage everyone to contact me with ideas, notes, and further questions ANYTIME. Music happens like prayer, without ceasing. The learning student should be able to better their understanding and strengthen their inspiration regardless of what they're focused on, so a concept may seem insurmountable until they spend an afternoon in a dog park and the necessary components of the days lessons seem to subtly clock into place while they're contemplating other life experiences entirely. This is just as much a part of learning as holding the instrument in their hands or practicing scales.
