About Kash
I work 1 on 1 with students to ensure that they understand multiple aspects and viewpoints of history. I strive to ensure that my students learn thorough, accurate history that delves outside the mainstream dominant narrative. I received a BA with High Honors in American Studies from UC Berkeley, finishing with a 3.8 GPA. There, I conducted cutting edge research of primary source documents to uncover stories about my personal past, the LGBT community, food culture, the Harlem Renaissance, California, and beyond. I firmly believe that history is not an entirely objective study because it relies heavily on the interpretation of artifacts and relics from previous eras. My goal is that students learn both course material and a renewed interest in learning the past through non-traditional materials such as historical films and artwork. We need to revive the art of teaching history by moving away from textbook, facts-based learning and toward material that actually interests students. There is so much more to the exciting past than Ken Burns and history textbooks that I want to encourage students to uncover themselves.
