About Murphy
Hi, my name is Murphy, and I am a wife and mother to two beautiful children. I have a passion for helping kids reach their full potential. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I worked as a behavioral therapist for eight years, helping kids ranging in age from 4 to 19 years old. I also spent two years as a private nanny and tutor, and enjoy teaching on a one-to-one or small group setting. Being able to accommodate an individual learner's needs is one of my strongest attributes, making me capable of working with kids with a variety of abilities and needs.
Literature is a gateway to self-knowledge, which is essential for success. Non-fiction, fiction, and poetry reveal to us aspects of both ourselves and human nature, and going on that journey with students is a privilege. Grammar and English class assignments are the building blocks necessary to cultivate a love of literature. They are also vital for effective communication, and helping students learn how to express themselves through the written word is something I am passionate about.
