About John
I have been teaching in North Carolina for 8 years. I have taught or am currently World History, Civics & Economics, American History I (to 1877), American History 2 (from 1877), Psychology, AP US History, and AP Seminar. I am focused on helping students learn in cretaive and fun ways!
I became a teacher after working in the private sector for 6 years following undergrad. I had always wanted to become a teacher so in 2010 I went back and got my master's degree. I was hired in 2013 at the school I currently teach at.
I have attended multiple professional devleopment trainings and cretifications. I currently hold a valid NC education lisence and hold tenur at my school. I also hold a BA in history and a M.Ed. in Secondary Social Studies Education

I first ask students what they feel they need the most help with. Often, it is study or work skills. We then develop a plan to focus on the specific content or skills the student needs to develop.
Content knowledge is not everything. Making a solid connection with the student so they they are able to learn from you in cirtical to their success.
