About Scott

Hi! I'm a recent Music Technology graduate from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I also received a degree in Clarinet Performance.

I've been writing and producing electronic music as "Megaphonix" (my producer/DJ project alias) for more than seven years, and have licensed my music for highly successful commercials, TV programs, and more. My music has been signed to major record labels, played by some of the world's biggest DJs, and garnered millions of plays on Spotify and SoundCloud.

It all started in my home studio on Sheridan Road - recently renovated with acoustic treatment and a lineup of professional-grade mics, and loaded with industry standard software plug-ins that can bring any recording to life. Whether you want to learn the basics of music production or learn advanced mixing and sound design techniques, I can help you fulfill your artistic drive with more than a decade of experience in music creation and songwriting under my belt.

For the past several years, my music education has been fundamental to my success as a music producer and audio engineer. My goal is to provide you with the same high-quality instruction that I received at a fraction of the cost! I look forward to teaching you.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and I have years of experience in music licensing and commercial-use production. I have also built my producer/DJ career from the ground up, reaching tens of thousands of fans and garnering millions of plays across streaming platforms.

About the lesson

I try to gain a personal understanding of the student's background, experience, and goals with the lessons, so that I can establish a curriculum best suited for growth and progress of each individual student. For example, a singer/guitarist may want to dive into recording, whereas a beginner may benefit from learning core music theory and composition concepts.

If you're a beginner in music production, I would recommend taking a few lessons at the teacher's home studio to get an idea for what it's like before investing in equipment for your own home - audio gear can be complicated and pricey!
