  • How long have you been interested in the field of well-being and are you practicing?

I’ve been interested in well-being for as long as I’ve been teaching, which has been over a decade. Teaching subjects like public health, dietetics, nutrition, biomedical sciences, and health care has shown me the power of well-being practices to change lives. In every subject I teach, my focus is on helping students see the real-life impact of what they’re learning, so they can apply it meaningfully in their own lives and future careers.
  • Tell us what your discipline can bring to people’s lives.

My discipline brings a sense of purpose and clarity, helping people understand how different aspects of health and science connect to improve quality of life. Whether it’s a public health strategy, a nutrition guideline, or data analytics, I teach my students to use their knowledge to make tangible, positive differences for themselves and others. Seeing students gain confidence and begin to excel in applying their skills is incredibly rewarding.
  • Could you provide some instant top tips to help us feel good in body and mind?

Absolutely! First, I’d say, prioritise work-life balance in everything. Secondly, practice mindfulness, even if it’s just five minutes a day; it helps reset your mind and can boost productivity. Finally, be curious; learning something new keeps the mind active and opens up new perspectives, which is essential for long-term well-being.
  • How would you describe your method as a practitioner?

I’d describe my method as collaborative and learner-centered. I aim to create an environment where students feel empowered to explore, ask questions, and apply their knowledge. I emphasise practical examples and encourage critical thinking so they can find real-world solutions and feel motivated to excel in their field.
  • With experience, are there things you have learned or unlearned about yourself or others?

Absolutely. One thing I’ve learned is that everyone has untapped potential, but each person unlocks it differently. As a teacher, my role isn’t just to impart information but to help students find their unique strengths. I’ve also learned that flexibility is key; sometimes I need to adapt my teaching approach to meet each student’s needs better.
  • Do you have a role model, a person who really inspired you?

Yes, several mentors inspired me early in my career, especially those who taught by example and encouraged me to dig deeper into subjects. A case in point were my PhD supervisors who showed me that teaching is not only about the content but about fostering curiosity and resilience. Their encouragement to pursue continuous learning has stayed with me, and I try to pass that on to my own students.
  • How do you personally relax; what methods work for you?

I relax by reading and staying active, whether it’s a walk or some exercise. I also find joy in learning new things, whether it’s a topic within public health or exploring statisctics in a new way. Taking time to pursue hobbies and learning outside of my teaching subjects gives me balance and keeps me engaged.
  • Tell us about a memorable lesson.

A memorable lesson for me was when a student told me how something they learned in my class helped them land a job in the council. It reminded me of the direct impact of education. It’s not just about knowledge but about shaping futures, building skills, and helping students develop confidence to use their abilities in ways that make a difference. That’s why I love what I do.
