About Francine

I offer French tutoring from a heart and passion for helping others open up their world with new languages. Ten years of my life were spent living in France (as a baby until 10 yrs old). I'm here to help you either begin your journey with the French language or continue to grow in it. Friendliness, patience, and encouragement are all skills that I master because I've seen the hardest parts of the French language myself and the value of a good teacher!

I have tutored French at a community college for 2 semesters and greatly enjoyed it. Students there were required to take classes to enjoy the tutoring services. With me, you can choose to follow a textbook or just use the tools that I provide. We can focus on writing, reading, speaking, or a nice combination of all three.

I've always had a passion for teaching others about my French and American culture. I may not have a teaching degree but I have a heart for teaching languages to others. I started this as a child when I would translate lyrics of songs in English that French friends would listen to. From there, it grew to volunteer French tutoring in High School to working as a tutor in the Language Lab at my community college.

Other than 10 years having lived in France, I have several college units of French and an Associate's Degree in Multicultural Studies (which included French, Italian, and Spanish studies).

About the lesson

Setting up an initial assessment of the student's level & comfortability in, and reason for studying French. Simply meeting via video chat or in person.

I've worked with students who were struggling greatly through their required language course (in French) to students who excell at language acquisition and needed the native speaker to practice with. One of my best students moved to France on a study program and I was quite proud and kept encouraging them on.

Make sure you get along with this teacher and that they have the skill of encouragement. Language learning happens when the learner is interested, engaged, and feels supported.

Last summer (2018), I attended a Christian English camp in France in which I was a counselor. The camp was a young adult camp, so in the process of helping the campers practice English, I was able to go backpacking in the French Alps with these new friends. The scenery was stunning and nothing could make me happier than to be hiking up in the Alps I grew up in.

My base rate is $30 per hour. As I gain more experience and education, I will be raising my price by increments of $5/hr.
