About Aria

Hi! My name is Aria and I'm a high school student at BASIS Scottsdale! I absolutely love teaching; I personally have a lot of experience with Spanish. I've been speaking Spanish for 10 years and help teach the language to younger students at my school. This language is beautiful and even if you've never spoken it before but want to give it a shot, I'm here to help you out!

Other than Spanish, I love to teach literature and all things English. If you're reading some difficult material in your English class or having trouble with grammar and the more meticulous parts of English, I can definitely provide assistance. I love tutoring because not only am I going to teach you, you will teach me. What more could someone ask for? :)

I can be a great help with Math because I know what it's like to struggle in that area. I have had my own set of challenges when it comes to Math and I've learned how to overcome those challenges. I believe it's very valuable to learn from someone who has dealt with the same issues as you and I can offer that experience!

I have been speaking Spanish since I was 5 years old and I have never stopped! I learned Spanish at an International school in Louisiana and continued speaking it in Arizona throughout high school. Furthermore, I have spent summers in Peru and Costa Rica, working with children.

I am incredibly passionate about English. Since I was little, reading has been one of my favorite activities to do. I have done well in and enjoyed AP English Literature and AP English Language and am very excited to help people out with everything English!

I enjoy those moments where a student gets it and I can see it in their eyes. My absolute favorite thing though is that I'm learning too. I'm learning about how to best improve the ways I teach. With every student there's something to learn, and I love that!

I got started at my school. My high school has a peer tutoring program and my teachers would have opportunities for students to come after school hours and help students.

I am in my senior year of highschool and have completed and passed 15 AP classes with a 3.9 GPA. During the shool year, I would stay after school to help peers of all ages in classes that they may be struggling with. Also, in terms of Spanish tutoring, I have spent summers in Peru and Costa Rica where I helped teachers at Elementary schools and orphanages.

About the lesson

My typical process for a new student is to just see where they stand and what they want from me. I want to give my students the type of learning they want. If they learn better lecture style, I'll make sure to do some intense explaining about a concept before introducing questions. If they'd rather work through a question insted of memorizing info before hand, so be it! I want to create the best environment for each student. Every student is going to have a different preference.

Students of all ages and of all capabilities. I've worked with students my age who have difficulties in classes that I've excelled in and I've helped students way younger. I've also helped students with learning disabilities as well!

Look for someone who you feel is really going to listen to your needs. A lot of teachers teach one way and one way only, and that way may not work for a lot of students. Versatility is key in the tutoring industry and I believe I can offer that for you.

Just the other day, one of my mom's high school friend's daughter was having trouble in her Calculus class. She sent me pictures of the problems and I wrote out how to do it as well as showed her mathematically. She was so grateful and it really made me happy to see it click for her. The concept was also something I used to have lots of trouble with so I knew exactly how to explain it to her.

I typically do 50$ a lesson; however, I'm super flexible with pricing. If you're not sure about having me as your tutor and want to do a trial lesson that is 100% ok!
