About Doreen

I initially began painting race cars in acrylic and a have a number of collectors, one in the UK and several in the US. I am currently however focused on painting wildlife. I have won a number of small local art competitions over the years and one national online competition where I achieved a 'crystal merit' award for my painting of a Fox quite recently. I sell predominantly by world of mouth and via my website, CoralShed Studios.com I have a good sized studio that can accommodate myself and two others. I teach beginner to intermediate in my studio dependent upon needs and am available for lessons Tuesdays and Wednesday's. Classes are 1.30mins or 3 hours. I also have a Facebook art page, (concealed information) unfortunately Facebook wouldn't allow me to change the name to Coral Shed Studios!

I began teaching 2 years ago after requests were made of me to do so. I enjoy it very much, helping others develop their talents is both challenging and exciting.

I have been painting all my life but on a more full time basis for the last 10 years. I take training myself from several other artists on a continuing education basis and try to attend at least two workshops a year to keep my skills fresh and as updated as possible. We never stop learning with art!

About the lesson

First 30 minute session is solely discussion to determine the students needs and objectives, and is free. This time allows the student the opportunity to meet with me, see my work first hand and we can decide if they can benefit from my experience.

I have worked with a number of students over the last few years. For example....a number of students who had very little experience but wanted help in creating abstract work, a florist who had some painting and drawing skills but needed to improve her ability to paint flowers, and currently a mature student, who is an intermediate oil and acrylic painter who has been with me for 4 months and continues to evolve her talents coming weekly to my studio.

Look at the work that the teacher creates and determine if you feel that they create the kind of work that you could relate to. Does their art look like they can teach you more than you already know?

Art Basel, Miami

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What style of work is of interest? Abstract, photo realism, impressionistic?

What is the subject matter you want to focus on, if the teacher mostly paints landscapes, is this a good teacher to help with painting wildlife?
