About Joanne

Joanne Morton is an abstract painter who constantly experiments with new techniques. Joanne uses vibrant color with mixed media textures & layers in a meditative freestyle. She offers a fresh perspective to painting that combines abstract art with positive affirmations.

"Affirmation Art" helps you Discover the Colors Radiating from Within! Joanne works with you to create an affirmation and walk you through your first brush stokes!

When I am painting - it feels like I am playing with color! There is a freedom in allowing the meditative freestyle with the brush. Once you aquire the skill to let go, painting can be a wonderful way to release stress. And make really cool art!!

I also love incorporating affirmations in my art. Affirmations are statements about your life. I choose to make positive affirmations about my life and myself. I have discovered the more positive thoughts I have and use, the more positive experiences I have. Positive affirmations help me move through challenges and obstacles. By combining abstract art with words in a painting is a way to combine making a positive statement for yourself and release the doubt and anxiety.

About the lesson

Our first step is to bring out the paints and canvas board then start playing with the paints. This step is to remove any pressure the student has about making a mistake.

Once we do our first painting, then we talk about color, texture and other techniques to use. We also discuss how we can express our feeelings and energy with color.

After we use acrylic art, other matetials are introduced. I encourage a lot of playing and experimenting!!
