About Jessa
Mod Physique studio is a small boutique womens fitness studio offering workouts in pilates, barre, pre/postnatal, cardio and personal training. Some of our classes are a mix of these formulas. We value the importance of small group classes by getting to know our participants and giving hands on adjustments and feedback. Our clients primarily range from newly weds to mom’s with little ones but also include as big of a range from high school seniors up to seniors! We value workouts that are holistic and help cross train you for whatever life you live. We think that working out should be fun and something you want to do. As Marie Forleo says, “If it ain’t fun, it won’t get done!”
We also happen to have an in house photographer. Great combo for getting in shape before a wedding, family event, or new baby.
My background is in dance. I was a professional ballet dancer who had injuries that prevented me from continuing. I am certified in Tabata bootcamp, Functional Movement Systems, barre, pilates mat, mamalates (pilates for pre/postnatal) and licensed in Zumba Fitness. I opened Mod Physique Studio in 2013 and have since worked with PDX Contemporary Ballet, JeffersonDancers2, restaurant owners, nurses, runners, seniors, new moms and more.
Our studio offers the opportunity for women to have private sessions who aren't ready to step into a group environment. We offer tabata cardio bootcamps for fast results, dance inspired barre classes for the inner ballerina that targets, glutes, legs and waist. Our fusion signature physique class incorporating cardio functional movement, pilates, and barre for an entire body workout. Pilates mat for core strength and rehab, pre/postnatal classes & privates for safe workouts during and after pregnancy. I love having people feel and see change, feel more confident, energized and more in love with their bodies. I love making people laugh, especially when we make mistakes. I am happy I can provide knowledge for pre/postnatal women discover their core and for everyone to become more successful in everyday life activities from the knowledge they gain in our space.

I retired from dancing after several injuries and needed to keep moving. Zumba got be moving and grooving again and feeling like dancing didn't have to be stressful. Pilates helped heal and make me stronger. Cardio helped me drop 2 sizes. If my body isn't happy I'm not happy. I have to move to live. I wanted to share the fun in moving. The work it takes is hard but rewarding. I know what pushing yourself to the limit is like and why it's important to "listen" to your body for guidance and seek guidance for a life long journey of fitness and happiness. Ballet was damaging not just to my body but to my mental state. You hear one dancers story you've heard them all. I want to share healthy alternatives to training your mind, body and spirit because it was a long journey for me and if I can help one person in any way, that means I'm making an impact for them and the family and friends around them.

Asking a lot of questions to really nail down what they really want, what their expectations are, what they want to commit to. What's their workout background, injuries past and present, and trepidations.
Teenagers, seniors, new moms, dancers, runners, bikers, artists, yogi's, busy business owners, nurses etc. Primarily women.
Look at their years of experience and breadth of knowledge. Is what your looking for what they teach? If it's not spot on with what you want, keep looking. How much are they teaching and how often? Are they continously learning with certifications, CEU (continuing education)? What type of people are they training and does that fit you? Look at reviews and not just yelp but testimonials. Do they have someone that went through the program you can talk to?
Recently a senior client of mine told me she was able to help her husband after shoulder surgery because of my training. She could talk to him and understand the physical therapist and the language. The P.T. only released him because they were comfortable with her walking him through his exercises. That was really awesome. She has also prevented herself from falling over several times on her daily walks, which previoiusly she broke her nose from a fall.
I had two ladies give birth around the same time. One said thank you for helping her push out a 10 pound baby and not having a c-section. Another pushed out her second child in a mere few hours, much faster than her first.
Another client had someone at her office comment that they didn't recognize her from the side because she dropped weight after a few weeks of training with me.
This is why I do what I do! It means so much to help people learn, feel better, and more confident.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Is your need purely about physical fitness or is about emotional mindset things that are holding you back? Are you looking for diet change? Are you willing to commit to a program and find out all there is to know about it or are you kicking tires? Are you willing to invest in your health or are you looking for entertainment? Do you want personalized attention, or to hide in the back of a room and not be seen? Do you want community or just time to recenter? What types of activities do you love and what makes you cringe.
All these things help determine what kind of program and classes you should consider.
