About Tucker

Studio in East Boise, will travel for fee. Piano, ear training, and composition lessons. Studied music and teaching at College of Idaho, studied piano since age 7.

I am passionate about spreading my love and joy for music. Having a music teacher is a special relationship and I am honored to hold the reigns as we make the journey into this wonderous artform.

Music and Education minors at College of Idaho.

About the lesson

I am a mentor/friend that helps guide your journey into music. It usually takes 8-12 months to develop the necessary muscles for sustained practice as well as to form the good practice routines necessary to achieve the long-term goal of piano mastery. We start with the piano/music basics and hand techniques and focus on reading music for the first 4 months. We continue through the piano basics for another 4 months still focusing on good technique but start moving through some beginner theory concepts. Once we get through the basics we will have a good understanding of basic theory, some confidence reading music, and a slew of warm-up exercises to keep our chops in peak condition. Next up, it's time for exploration into the vast array of musical literature. We will build our repertoire from the baroque, classical, romantic, and on into the modern periods. We will also look at atonal, impressionist, rag, and jazz as well as movie scores and pop songs.

The recent Boise Philharmonic rendition of Grieg's Peer Gynt was captivating.

Deadly! Tucker is amazing! He has been working with my son for almost 3 years, since he was 3! My son loves it more and more every day. He's learning to read sheet music and loves just making his own songs. All inspiration from Tucker. We will take lessons from him forever!

Deadly! Great instructor with an abundant amount of patience (currently teaching 9 & 6 year old boys)! He also travels to you (if needed), and works with shared-custody schedules.

Tucker did a wonderful job working with our daughter on piano. He was able to go at her pace and introduced a lot of new concepts to her. I noticed a big improvement in her skills and she really took off on piano!
