About Andre

When teaching, I use a method that helps the student become a musician before he/she is a pianist. A pianist is someone who’s learned the different techniques to play on a instrument (the piano) while a musician knows the theory of music to be able to apply it to any instrument.

The most enjoying part of teaching is having your student learn a topic that they may have been struggling with. As a teacher, your learning wether from your student or by your self, so helping a student with a topic that is difficult to them just requires them to learn the topic in a different way which is most enjoyable part to me because you only know a subject when you can think of three different ways to teach it.

I started teaching when I was 19 years old and I have gained so much knowledge from teaching students. The most important lesson I’ve learn is that each student has their own personality, a lot of students are passionate about playing but they don’t like to practice but still want results. Playing an instrument is a skill not a talent, so anyone can learn but you have to willing too.

I have been teaching for over 6 years, privately and within a music school is Queens, New York. I have graduated with my bachelors degree in classical instrument performance over at The City College of New York and I’ve also been playing as a piano accompanist at two or more different Catholic Churches.

About the lesson

Depending on what instrument I teach, electric bass or keyboard, I would first have the student learn their music alphabet, then what keys or strings letters is on their instrument, and lastly, what is the range of their instrument.

I’ve work with almost all ages, from 7 year olds to grown aldults and I’ve found all students are the same. It’s just takes time to learn any subject but with the right amount of time, you can learn anything.

Look for a teacher who knows what their teaching and makes the lesson simple for anyone to learn.

last month I went to Montreal to do a live recording with my jazz band at a recording studio. It was one of the fun things I’ve done in a long time due to the fact that we all just played to have fun instead of being hassled by work or family needs. We just played our music and had a great show.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why do you want to learn how to play an instrument? What goals do you want to be able to do? What are you willing to do daily or maybe even 5 days a week to achieve your goal? And after you’ve achieved your goal, what would you do next? Being a musician means being surprised everyday of what you can create and possibilities of sounds music can create. Details

My standard pricing systems for anyone who is above the age of 14, would be 45 for 45 mins to an hour. For anyone who is at the age of 14 or below, I would charge 35 for 45 mins to an hour.
