About Susan

What makes my service stand out, is I either travel to the students house depending on location and my availability and I can also teach online. With in home lessons I offer small prizes for the student trying their best and following directions to the best of their ability.

The thing I enjoy most is seeing a student making progress. Oftentimes it's significant progress. I will often time ask the student to try to remember from when they first started lessons to the here and now and how easy the begging part now is

I got stated teaching because of my love for piano. I used to play a lot at my old church and a parent asked me if I would teach their child and I said sure, but I have not taught anyone yes, well that was my starting point. Also, I have a background in early childhood, so I think that ims helpful too

I have Taken five years of piano lessons while in college and I have over ten years of teaching piano

About the lesson

I start by asking them to play something for me, if they can. I may also ask a few questions about music theory as well. If they cant play anything or have no knowledge of piano or theory that's ok too. I just ask for these things as an assessment. Often times with older kids the parents are amazed to find their child as some musical knowledge before taking lessons. With younger students, I prefer the parent being in the lesson at least for the first few lessons. This gives the child assurance that it is fun and they are often less nervous and this also allows the parent to help the child both during the lesson as well as practicing.

I have worked with students age 4 through adult and I have worked with a few with special needs.

The advice I would give is see if the teachers profile matches what they are looking for and looking for a teacher who is willing to answer any questions the student or parent may have in regards to music or piano lessons in general

The questions they should think through is what type of music or specific songs they would like to learn and what they hope to get out of taking lessons. If they don't have an answer to any of these questions, that's ok too.

Details

My standard pricing for online lessons is $22 for a half hour lesson for the first student and $17 for each additional student. If traveling to the students home, the rate is $25 for the first student and $20 for each additional student with in the same household
