About Ben

At Ben Saunders Piano and Vocal Studio, I strive to create a fun, friendly, and motivating environment. Our goal is for students to become musically independent by becoming proficient in musical technique, knowledge, expression, and performance. By participating in lessons, students will have the opportunity to learn and grow to progress toward becoming well rounded musicians.

I enjoy getting to know each student individually. Each student is unique, and therefore each lesson should be tailored to the student’s needs and learning style. I also enjoy helping students discover the joy of music, and helping them to utilize music to enrich their own life and the lives of others.

I graduated Summa cum Laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. I have been teaching private music lesson for 10 years, and have taught over 80 students in total. I studied private voice with Dr. Karen Brookens, Gary Sorensen, and Marta Gutierez. I also studied private piano with Dr. Gerta Wiemar, Melinda Tall, and Misty Wiese. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Music Degree at Northern Arizona University.

About the lesson

The first consultation lesson is free! In the first lesson, I assess the student’s capability to establish their skill level and areas of improvement. We also discuss any musical goals toward which they would like to work. Based on the assessment, we create an individualized, tailored plan based on the student’s strengths, learning style, and the needed areas of improvement to help them progress to achieve their goals. We also find the best lesson time based on the student’s schedule.

I teach all ages and ability levels, whether you are just beginning or have been singing or playing for years. I have also worked with all personality types, from students that are very outgoing, as well as students who are more quiet and reserved. All students have the ability to become well-rounded musicians.
