About Grace

Hi I'm Grace! I am a piano, clarinet, and harp instructor and certified Music Therapist living in Lawrence, KS. In addition to solo work, I have performed with the St. Olaf Band, St. Olaf Philharmonia, University of Kansas Wind Ensemble, Harpers of the Prairie, Windsong Harp Ensemble, and the Lawrence City Band. After receiving bachelor’s degrees in Music and Psychology at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, I returned to Kansas where I received my Masters in Music Education, Music Therapy. For the last four years, I have been teaching piano and clarinet in Overland Park, KS and just recently moved back to Lawrence to be closer to family.

I currently offer private piano, clarinet, and harp lessons virtually via zoom or at my in-home studio. I absolutely love helping students discover their passion for making music and encouraging a lifelong love for musical exploration and expression. I am particularly focused in adapting lessons to fit each specific student’s needs and goals.

Lessons are adapted to meet your specific music goals and are designed to encourage musical exploration, creativity, and fun - with options to include exporation of other instruments during lessons, including: piano, harp, guitar, ukulele, autoharp, djembe, paddle drum, maracas, mbira, recorder, tone chimes, and more!

I received my bachelor's degrees in Music and Psychology at St. Olaf College in 2015, and then returned to Kansas where I received my Masters in Music Education, Music Therapy. About the lesson

Our first lesson will be more of a "get to know you" where we'll talk about any experience you have, what kinds of music you like, and what you want to get out of lessons. Then we'll decide on a book to use, I'll send you my studio policy as well as some musical tools/guides, and we'll set up a weekly lesson time!

I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I am particularly focused in adapting lessons to fit each specific student's needs and goals while encouraging an overall love for music.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do you want to get out of lessons? Are you looking to become a professional musician or just play for fun? Are you interested in diving into theory and technique or simply learning how to play your favorite songs? Of course we can always adjust and change direction, but it's helpful to let your teacher know what you're looking for so they can adapt your lesson to meet your unique goals.
