About Carrie

I am a credentialed elementary music teacher in the public schools with over 15 years of teaching experience. My undergraduate degree is in music education.

I love teaching all ages and enjoy watching them "get it". I have six children that I home schooled for ten years. Teaching is definitely my calling.

I am a former homeschooling mother of six. Growing up I learned to play piano and several band instruments. I received my AA in music from American River College, then my BA in music education from Sacramento State School of Music. I then continued on to get my teaching credential from William Jessup College and I am currently teaching TK-5 general music in the public schools. I have had my own private studio for about 8 years and continue to run it while also teaching and working as a accompanist at two churches.

About the lesson

I like to meet each new student and evaluate where they are. Once I know more about my student, their hobbies, their afterschool activities, and other information, I can begin to design a plan to help them learn what they want. Music should be fun and enjoyable, but it does require practice. I use games and personal challenges and goals to help my students get to where they want to be.
