About Marcus
I can cater to the needs of the students. Being versatile I can teach Classical, Jazz, Pop or Gospel lessons. I have taught students from age 4 to 60, and I am able to adapt to any kind of student and goals of the student.
I've seen my students go on to play in bands and some become professionals. On the other hand I've also seen students enjoy playing music as just a hobby or as therapy during difficult times in their lives.
The greatest joy is in seeing the student progess and make music on their own. It is like the "before and after" effect. I have noticed how much music has changed their lives and given them pleasure and it makes me happy.

Before I start I would talk to them on the phone. I would find out where they stand in their music level and find out their goals. Accordingly, I would recomment the kind of books they need to order on Amazon to begin with.

Deadly! Marcus is an extremely competent and knowledgeable pianist and instructor. I truly enjoy taking lessons from him. He is really helping me in the understanding of Jazz theory and piano performance.
Also, he is patient with his teaching technique as related to difficult phrases.Deadly! Patient teacher, and gives great advice to help the student get out of one’s box - the beginning step to improvisation. Provides structured practical exercises that would enable the student understand jazz harmony and chords! Jazz theory (and application) is hard to study by myself, and I’m thankful for Marcus being such a great resource in helping me understand and apply. Thank you Marcus!
