Biography:

Italian pianist, Christian De Luca, is the overall "Prize and Audience Award" winner of the 2014 International Competition

for Piano and Orchestra, Città di Cantù. At age 18 he graduated from the Umberto Giordano Conservatory in Foggia, Italy, under the tutelage of Claudio Trovajoli. Since then, he has been performing in prestigious Italian concert halls, such as the Teatro Sociale in Como, the Academic Hall of The Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome, and the Teatro Sociale in

Ferrara.

During his studies in Italy, he has also developed a strong interest in historical performance practice, after studying

with Giuseppina De Berardinis, a pupil of Emilia Fadini. After graduating, he has been a piano teaching-assistant at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome for two years. So far he has taken part in several masterclasses while receiving

significant praise from artists such as Leslie Howard, Robert Levin, Alexander Lonquich, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Sir Andras

Schiff, Arie Vardi, and Elisso' Virsaladze.

In the autumn of 2014, De Luca moved to New York City, and enrolled in The Juilliard School. In 2015 he made his New York City debut at Yamaha Artist Service Piano Salon, and in 2016 he performed at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. Since autumn of 2016, he has been performing regularly in duo with cellist, Madeleine Bouissou. Currently, De Luca is completing his Master's program at The Juilliard School, where he is also a Secondary Piano and Music Theory teaching fellow.

Other than Juilliard, De Luca has been teaching privately in New York City since 2015. He is also continuing to pursue his

interests in historical instruments; he has been coached by fortepianist, Audrey Axinn, and has been taking harpsichord lessons with Peter Sykes. His studies are being supported by the Susan W. Rose Piano Fellowship, the Arthur Rubinstein Scholarship, and the Lola Maskiewitz Scholarship Fund.
