About Matthew

I thrive on teaching people not just to play the piano, but to understand the instrument, and music theory as a whole!

It gives me a chance to give back. I have had such an amazing array of teachers. I studied piano, organ, voice, percussion, guitar, music theory and composition. I was accepted to Juliard, and pursued a degree in music performance at The Pennsylvania State University. I have taught music theory, composition, piano, and voice.

I began teaching immediately after graduating from college at a local military base's youth recreation center.

I have studied and performed piano for more than 40 years. I was accepted to Juilliard and have a background in music performance from The Pennsylvania State College of Music. I also tutored other music students in music theory and composition.

About the lesson

Teaching music fundamentals as well as piano techiques to play the type of music desired by the student.

I have work with students whose ages ranged from 6-36, with a variety of skill levels.

One needs to meet an instructor and make sure there is a good fit between the teacher and student. A teacher may have an amazing amount of experience, and a great knowledge of instruction, but their personality may simply not match your own.

I recently went hang gliding which was even more exciting than I anticipated!
