About Antonio
Hi! My name is Antonio Madruga and I have been playing the piano since the age of 3. I have been fortunate in my life to have performed multiple times at the Grammy's and the White House, the Kennedy Center, and was written about alongside former First Lady Michelle Obama in Harper's Baazar Magazine. I have also performed hundreds of times at Jazz At Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola with my Jazz Trio as well as with others such as Paquito D'Rivera and Wynton Marsalis. I have been in two HBO specials, 'The Music In Me' & then in a masterclass with the great trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis, which was nominated for an Emmy.
My performance life aside, I am equally passionate about sharing what I've learned on-stage and giving back the knowledge I have gained to students through having these experiences as I am exalted by performing live. There is no feeling that could match seeing firsthand when a student is able to grasp a new concept and the light bulb goes on over their head and their smiling because they can do what they never dreamed of doing at their instrument.
I love developing an understanding for my student's strengths and weaknesses and curtailing a lesson plan that's specifically suited to my student's needs. No one lesson is the same, as not one of us is exactly the same, and we all have a special and unique voice to share with the world, musically and otherwise. I intend to foster that voice from the foundation upward to where my student has an operational understanding of not just piano, but music as a whole. An understanding that promotes branching out to composition, improvisation, arranging and much more. All genres are welcome - I believe that having a diverse array of musical interests serve the student by crafting a complex listening ear that is well-acquainted with different harmonic progressions and rhythms.
I look forward to beginning our journey to musical excellence together and discovering all that there is to discover in the infinite world of music.
