About Joe

I am a full time Piano and Guitar Instructor with a music degree who is also a working musician (writing, recording and performing). I offer lessons in your home and I have 25 years experience teaching all ages, levels and styles of music. In that time, I have developed a unique approach that enables my students to understand and play anything they want to play, and not just to play songs by rote memorization or by copying the teacher. I focus on a personal approach, and customize my teaching methods to suit each individual student. I teach students of all ages, skill levels and styles. Please call for days and hours of availability and to schedule an appointment..

I started teaching when friends and people who saw me performing asked me to teach them how to do what I do.

I hold a music degree from Queens College, I have been teaching for over 25 years, and I have been performing, writing, and recording professionally since the age of 15.

About the lesson

I have been teaching piano and guitar privately for over 25 years I tailor my lessons to what the student wishes to learn, along with learning the basics, such as note reading.

I have taught students as young as 4 1/2 as well as people in their 70s, and every age in between. I have taught beginners, intermediate, and advanced students who wanted to learn jazz, rock, pop, and classical music. In other words, every possible age, level, and style of music.

Try a couple of teachers before you settle on one. Find a teacher you are comfortable with, who is patient and really knows his stuff. (Like me!) And most of all, practice!

I have worked with artists as diverse as Leon Russell, Jason Bonham, Dee Snyder, Johnny Maestro, and Uncle Floyd!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I comfortable with this teacher? Am I willing to spend time practicing? What are my goals, do I want to play professionally or as a hobby?

Deadly! Joe is a full blown musician , piano player guitar player singer composer . After many years not of playing guitar as i once did in my youth and wanting to pick it back up again as a senior , and this time actually learning to read and understand music and how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together and why , you’ll not find a better teacher to guide you than Joe. I highly recommend Joe and thankful for finding him via this site.

Deadly! Joe recently came to us to teach our twin sons, beginners and age 6.5. On his first visit he got them excited about piano and learning and was able to teach them concepts they grasped immediately. He has the gift to encourage to do well in a playful but firm way that speaks to kids. I highly recommend his teaching approach and we look forward to continuing instructions with him.

My son has learned a lot from Joe. He is very kind and patient, always on time and flexible with scheduling. He is supportive with questions between lessons and easy to communicate with. We’re so happy we chose him to help my son develop his interest in piano into a skill.
