About Luke

My studio offers affordable rates and uses various aspects of music to help the piano student grow not just as a performer, but as a musician. Even beginners will get appropriate exposure to music theory, scales, chords, sight-reading sheet music, and piano techniques to help them develop and enjoy their learning!

Having started playing piano myself at an early age and later receiving my BA in Music, I have seen how all of these concepts have helped me grow into a versitile musican being able to play the piano for a variety of communities including churches, schools, taphouses, and musical performances.

I am passionate about music because of its ability to lift people no matter what mood their in. The piano is an incredible instrument that can be used to, yes have fun, but also to touch so many lives.

I have had the joy of using the piano to accompiany youth choirs, school musicals, church services, bring joy to school children in low-opportunity communities, both abroad and here in the States, and seeing how music has transformed lives and lifted spirits. It is an incredible gift I love passing on so others may experience the joy it has brought me.

About the lesson

The first lesson lasts 30 minutes and accesses where the student is at, explores their interest in music and piano genre, and develop a plan with the student and their parent on what lesson rhythms will work best to meet their piano goals. If students have existing resources, I ask that they bring them so I can determine where the student's performance level is, and how we can challenge them. I then send them home with assignments to work on and bring back next week to see if the pacing will be appropriate
