About Eden

I have been playing music for most of my life!

I began piano at age 8 and clarinet at age 10. I've continuously kept up my private lessons and many ways of performance for each instrument.

Now that I'm in college, I have been introduced to so many new opportunities in terms of teachers, performances, and student leadership! It's been exciting time getting to develop these skills and I am eager to start passing what I've learned on to other students!

About the lesson

We begin with the very basics!

Before even playing the instrument, a student should become comfortable with the teacher, the instrument before them, and the idea of simply producing music. Some catch on rather quickly, some need more time to adjust to this new skill. That is to be expected!

Once the student has an idea of what lessons are like, how we can set individual goals, and other matters like how to practice, then the actual playing and technique methods will begin. It's important to have an introduction to gain the trust of the student and so that there isn't too much information thrown around at once.

I attended a Drum Corps International show in Indianapolis, IN. Drum corps is a professional summer marching activity that contains brass, percussion, and color guard members. Basically, it's marching band on steroids! I have a deep love for marching band and DCI, so this was very exciting! I hope to one day (hopefully next summer!) learn a brass instrument, audition, and earn a spot in one of these corps!

What are some things you would like to gain from these experience? Music is a lot of fun- but can be a lot of work!

Practicing can seem intimidating and hard to squeeze into our busy schedules. If you need help trying to find methods that work for you, ask! There are many ways that we can fit practicing our love for music in a consistent and easy manner.
