About Jacqueline

I teach private lessons online only, via zoom.

I've played violin and piano for 15 years each, I have a BA in music from San Jose State University. I've worked with kids in a program called String Project that SJSU hosted.

I am trained in the Suzuki method.

What I enjoy most is the sharing of love of music. I discovered my love for music 15 years ago when older students came to my school do demonstrate instruments.

I had my first student a couple years ago, and I also occasionally teach friends and family members. Everyone tells me that I am calm and patient.

I have had my own private lessons for 15 years for both my instruments, only recently taking classes at SJSU about music education. I was trained in the suzuki method for violin.

For piano, depending on their playing style, age, and preference, I either use alfred or Bartok Mikrokosmos.

About the lesson

If they have experience on their instrument I would have them play any piece of music they are comfortable with so I can determine their level. If no experience, I simply ask what knowledge they already have on their instrument. For both types of students, I ask what their goal for their instrument is.

I've worked with an energetic nine year old, a mature 22 year old, and I momentarily taught a couple students at the Music Place in a sort of internship.

A recent event I am fond of was the Pasquale Esposito Christmas Concert that my SJSU orchestra performed in. The lights, the christmas spirit, and the venue itself was quite memorable.
