About Vanna

I have experience teaching STEM-related subjects for elementary and middle school students. As I am a college freshman, I have more knowledge about what classes and works are like in school as I was there a few years ago. I am also am energetic and organized and I will make sure that your child will have a great time with me!

I am also multilingual, I grew up speaking Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and I have also self-taught myself Korean and studied Spanish in high school. I am also majoring in Linguistics in college and planning to get a TESOL certificate!

I really enjoy working with kids and basically every age. I have worked in a museum for 2 years during high school and my job is to create and give museum tours to children. I enjoyed my time working with kids at the museum a lot. I have also tutored my brother since he was in first grade and I feel satisfied when I see that he did great in his homework and got praised.

I have been teaching my own brother since he was in first grade and now he is in seventh grade, and I really enjoy the process of tutoring so that's why I choose to teach and tutor in my free time in college!

I am a college student now and I have taken AP Bio and Precalculus in high school, I have also studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biotechnology when I was living in Hong Kong, so I do have general bits of knowledge on Math and Science subjects.

I have self-taught Korean for 4 years and is in an advanced Korean class in college now. I was also born and raised in Hong Kong and I was raised speaking Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I have also volunteered in a Chinese School for 2 years!

About the lesson

I will normally do an ice breaker on the first day to let me know more about the student and to let the student know more about me, then I will ask about their level of knowledge on the subject that they need help with, after that I will start tutoring or teaching!

I have worked with students that have ADHD and autism, even though its quite challenging teaching students like that, I have still managed to pull it through and both the student and parents are satisfied with my teaching.

Make sure that they have experience teaching and also have at least some general knowledge in those subjects. Don't forget that a teacher should be nice and responsible too!

You should reflect and ask yourself, "what do I need help with?" and also think about if you have tried worked on it yourself before asking your teacher. But don't be stressed to talk to your teacher about your needs, they are always here for you.
