About Grant

With me, you'll learn music the only way I do: by enjoying what you play! Whether you're a true beginner, having never touched a keyboard, or you know your way around your instrument and wish to add a new style to your arsenal, we can get there together.

Since the first grade, I took classical and pop piano lessons, including music theory. In high school, I traded these lessons for jazz band, improvisation, and learning songs by ear. I went on to play music for various organizations and churches through college, and have since spearheaded the band Clear Pioneer, whose songs I've written, produced, performed and sang in, and have received radio play and critical acclaim.

I was given the opportunity at a young age to begin a musical journey, and wish to share this gift with those who will take it. Life is a musical thing, and learning to create your own soundtrack is the greatest feeling on Earth.

Aside from the countless studies on music's benefits for the brain, memory, aging and overall mental health, there is an inherent part of our humanness which can only be expressed musically. Whether it be songwriting, playing an instrument, or singing, your unique musical voice is waiting to be heard by those you love and, maybe, the whole world!

I have 10 years of formal training in piano, with an additional 8 years in songwriting, improvisation and playing live. I have been a worship leader, directing musicians of various skill levels to work as a cohesive unit and play off of each others' strengths.

About the lesson

Students are never typical, so neither is my process. I meet you where you are when you come to me. Your skill level, budget, time constraints, and desire to learn will differ, and so will my methods.

I always try to begin with something enjoyable to show you the benefit of practice before asking you to spend countless hours attending the boring particulars. Practice is necessary, but should be enjoyable as well as beneficial.
