About Elizabeth

I teach small group and private instruction with a rehab Pilates method. This method is meant for anyone of any age to participate! Also, I have a 20 year background as a Physical Therapist. This allows me to use my expertise of bodywork and injury management to my practice as a Pilates Instructor.

Helping clients feel better about their physical abilities, participate in daily activity with greater ease and less pain is such a gratifying experience for both myself and the client!

I took my first rehab Pilates course as a continuing education class for my Physical Therapy license. I used the method with patients and saw remarkable results in how quickly they improved. I finished up the courses for my certification and began teaching group classes in 2014.

I am a Physical therapist with 20 years of experience. I currently practice at an outpatient private practice in Crozet. I am certified to teach Pilates through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute, the world leader in rehab Pilates.

About the lesson

Typically I will work with a student in an individual session to teach the basics of Pilates, assess ability and address any particular needs. After an initial session the student and myself can determine if further individual sessions are needed or if the student is ready for group classes.

I have worked with adults as well as children! In my Physical Therapy practice I use 1:1 teaching of Pilates principles to help a patient recover from injury. My general population for the class setting is middle aged to retired clients.

When looking for a Pilates instructor, you need to know what method of Pilates is being taught. Classical Pilates was designed for a very fit, healthy population since it was primarily ballet dancers who Joseph Pilates worked with when he immigrated to the US. Now, the population has changed so the methods have evolved. Make sure you are the right fit for the method of Pilates being taught.
