About Christiana

As an experienced tutor (from primary school to university level) I am committed to providing high quality education and support to children and young people. I read Philosophy at Cambridge, followed by a Masters and PhD in International Relations at St. Andrews, and I have worked as a Tutor and Guest Lecturer at the University of St. Andrews for over three years. I have also published numerous books and journal articles on politics, cultural studies and media studies, as well as fiction and poetry.

In addition to tutoring and lecturing in International Relations and dissertation writing, I have taught Creative Writing to secondary school pupils, and English and Art to primary school pupils. I specialise in: English, Politics and Government, Creative and Academic Writing Skills, Research Skills, Philosophy, Journalism, Sociology, editing and University Advice. I also have experience as a babysitter and au pair to young children from infant to 11.

I am adaptable and enthusiastic when it comes to tailoring to individual needs and interests, seeking to understand how the student learns most efficiently, where their natural interests and strengths lie, and how they can be used to develop overall. I really love being in the position to nurture academic enquiry and creativity, and to help develop confidence and enthusiasm, which is often so central to long term success and satisfaction. I understand that school and applying to university can be a stressful time, and I aim to teach in a way that is reassuring and inspires confidence and enthusiasm.

Having been educated at Cambridge and St. Andrews, I know what it takes to work in those environments and therefore how to prepare prospective university students as they transition from school to university. I am happy to assist in that—whether directly (prepping for admissions) or indirectly (through tuition in particular subjects). I am also available for help developing research, writing and editing skills, whether creative or academic.

I enjoy teaching all levels, from primary school children to A-Level and undergraduate level students, across a variety of subjects. Please do message me if you have any questions. I am available to tutor online (weekdays and evenings) or in person in the Glasgow area (weekdays between 10 and 2).
