About
As a stay-at-home mom for 14 years, one of my best memories was in helping each of my three sons learn how to read. During that time, I also became a published writer and realized I had a love for documenting stories. Fast-forward to a new season in my life when I started working as an Instructional Assistant at an elementary school. While there, I saw how many children feel overwhelmed by the tasks of writing and learning how to read. The pace can seem so fast in a classroom of 25. While helping these kids, I discovered some strategies that helped break down these tasks into smaller bites. After three years in a school, I went on to become an SLPA, a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. While I cannot do that job in a tutoring role without the supervision of a therapist, many kids who struggle with speech and language also struggling with written language. I would like to use all of these years of training and experience to support kids in the areas of reading and writing.
What I love about the work I do is the chance to help identify a child's struggle and then finding those bridges to help them through those struggles. I enjoy seeing those kids go from feeling defeated to gaining confidence and joy.
